The training focuses on ADL, Functional academics and psychomotor skills, all aimed to facilitate vocational development and to enhance functional capabilities of the individuals. Also the program aims to promote the aesthetic sense and inculcate recreational skills in the student. A student is assessed individually for his/her present functioning level and according to their individual goal and needs the training objectives are established. .
The vocational training is a structured 3year program for adults with special needs to develop the vocational aptitude of a person. The training primarily focuses on work skill ( psychomotor and job related tasks), work behaviors( discipline. Social skills, personal hygiene) that need to be reinforced to work in an ideal work environment. Upon achieving the readiness for vocation the individuals are placed in simulated workstations to give them real work exposure. Following their successful completion they will be graduated and led for mainstream employment opportunities or will be considered for forms of employment
In the daily routine schedule the students are practiced to do Yoga therapy which helps them to function effectively. Systematic yogasana practice helps prevent or arrest deterioration and also brings about cures for many of the problematic conditions. Improvement can be seen in motor skills, reduction of obesity, reduced hyperactivity, and sleep and health improvement.
Every day in evening our students participate in indoor and outdoor games. This led to their participation in District, State, National, International and local level competitions held and they have got medals for their achievement.
Our children enjoyed themselves on going to various educational as well sightseeing trips in and around Chennai. Few of them were taken to Bangalore for computer training.
Parents meeting is conducted every 4th week of the month along with the staff members. In the past meetings we have conducted awareness programs and provided latest information for the welfare of the children. Professionals attend the meeting like placement officer - Mr. Sridharan from State Commissioner office, District Rehabilitation Officer working in the field of Disability address the parents on various topics.
